Practical and Actionable Steps
Finally, we’ll share real-life strategies you can apply at home to strengthen your child’s spiritual foundation.
Move Beyond Superficial Parenting
Many religious families put great effort into raising their children to be faithful. They carefully choose the right school, monitor their friends, and the mother takes special care during pregnancy and nursing. Parents teach religious values and practices with dedication. Yet, when those children reach their teenage or young adult years, the results are often disappointing. A child who used to pray may stop praying. A daughter who used to wear hijab may take it off. Some even begin to reject religion altogether. Why does this happen? The root cause lies in our superficial view of religious upbringing. We focus on appearances and outward behaviors, but fail to build the inner foundation of faith within our children.
